Too many hands, spoil the pot...

...I am here at SIMSI serving a multi-functioning role. Firstly I am a student - duh, I paid several thousands of dollars that I didn't have to attend. Secondly I am an Apple Campus Rep. Basic support of the Apple Solutions that have been loaned to SIMSI. Thirdly, I am wearing a volunteer tech support hat. Here is the problem, no one listens. Point In Case: We were suppose to show a 5 minute section of un-edited video. Simple enough right, the assignment was to bring in a mini-dv tape. This is for a reason (plug the tape into the player and have no problems with audio or video etc). A group wanted to show footage from their machine that they had started to edit. I told them they would not have audio - because of the way the tech in the room is set up. They still insisited on the computer, so - as the faculty came to the front to help - I began to solve the sound issue. I thought, maybe, if I unplugged the sound cable from the podium machine we might be able to get audio from the laptop and project the video over the aux computer jack. What this actually meant, however, was that you either had Audio OR Video, like I originally assumed. Well... Instead of listening to me in the first place as to "you won't have audio" I bent and was made to look foolish - damn you Malachi~

Malachi,
So sorry for the outrageous attack on your personal integrity. Stop taking yourself so seriously, no one else does.

"Stop taking yourself so seriously, no one else does." -
Well Frank, maybe that is the problem. I was right about the audio wasn't I? Thanks for proving my point, twit.....
I have an idea, why don't you have a little graciousness and once you get it - learn to listen.
No hard feelings though, I mean seriously, I'm only here to offer technical help based on my many years of experience in the field of computers and technology, if you don't want it then that's cool - it gives me (a volunteer) a little time off!
As for me taking myself too seriously, if you can't take yourself seriously, how do you expect anyone else to?

hummm....take your self too seriously...I don't think so! I think what Malachi is asking for is a little respect. It is difficult to put yourself out there as the tech. support person in a group. However, it is even MORE difficult if no one listens to you and then wonders why things don't work. Take my word for it....Listen to Mal...he knows. I have learned a lot from him.

Well Frank,
You might be interested in knowing that we think the audio problem has been resolved....Jeff located a wire yesterday that was deep in the mess that is the equipment cabinet and I found the place to hook it in. So Frank - problem resolved.

dude i didnt have any problem with the audio, it wasnt a big deal at all. What made me mad was that instead of coming to me privately with your frustration you posted a comment on a public website dedicated to our class. Your online message, which obviously refered to me, was condescending and plus on my computer "Malachi ~" appeared on a different line than "damn you", so i though you were directing that at me and not yourself. I was also taken aback by how seriously you seemed to take the incident, which i had forgotten about until i stubled across this blog, but eaither way it was a stupid arguement and I'm not going to bring animosity to class

just curious, where did you hear about this blog? I'm keeping it more to learn about moveable type, cause I will be working a lot with it and students next semester.
just because this is a public forum, doesn't mean that everyone in the class is using it...thanks for the vote of confidence though!
At any rate, no animosity man....just glad someone is using my blog...
