Media Output

Posted on June 28, 2005

Art Bell & Harley Blake talk on various forms of media output.

The main thing to focus on to publish on the web is to ask yourself how am I going to package/deliver it. Web Streaming, Download etc....

Explain the difference between streaming and download....
Squeeze & Coder will generate the XML for a movie to upload.

Make a smaller video and increase the size in the embedded file. This will actually give you a better end product than a larger movie would....because of file size etc.

Harley has created a site for doing embedd.
uvm.edu/ctlmedia/wk/obj.embed.html

Three things to work with:
Frame Rate - drop drastically on web clips
Picture size
Bitrate

When exporting from FCP there are several different options. Two options you have are to straight to Quicktime or go through compressor.....interesting....

Art Bell:
He gave us several very intersting websites, including his site. (http://www.dreamlikepictures.com/)
He mentioned that he shoots often with his Elph Canon camera. Looked great.
Also;
1 - He showed us a picture he made for Howard Dean, I saw a friend that I hadn't seen since high school!
2 - He made a five minute short about life in a kitchen. He did it in Maine....actually, he stayed in Rockland and shot in Camdem - Carter lives in Rockland and sails from Camden!!
